What type of counsellor are you?

There are so many different types of counselling!!
I am Person Centred
I am prodominately person centred at heart. This means I believe you know yourself best, you know what you have tried and tested and what works and what doesn't work for you. I give you a therapeutic, non-judgemental space for you to be you and in turn this aids self awareness and helps you work out if you wish to change something. Within my own counselling experence as a client, I would sometimes question "I wonder where that popped out of my mouth from?" and "I wasn't expecting that!" and I was able to process sometimes outside of the sessions and sometimes further exploration within my sessions. I also experimented with different types of therapy such as email, person centred, in-person, telephone, EMDR and CBT to name a few.
Carl Roger's is the man behind this theory and you can find out a little from his video here.

I am Integrative
I am also integrative in that I sometimes draw on different modalities, such as walk and talk, email, animal therapy, transactional anaylsis or the internal family systems, and sometimes I will bring creativity within our sessions if it feels appropriate.
I work with my felt sense which is a term coined by Eugene Gendlin which can be hard to describe and I can work in a relational way.

What I am not.....
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I do not look at thoughts and try to work out a way to reframe it, and I do not give you homework.
Couples, families - I am not trained in couples or families, I am solely one to one.
